New Nissan Navara 2.3 dCi 190Hp Tekna Problems

New Nissan Navara 2.3 dCi 190 Horsepower | 2020 Double Cab | The New Nissan Navara is one of the most versatile cars on the market today. A work vehicle or companion to devote himself to his hobbies, in recent generations he has put aside the roughest and most spartan side, but while maintaining an exceptional off-road attitude, at the same time offers an interior with all the comfort you would expect from a sedan and a dynamic behavior closer and closer to that of a traditional car. With the 2.3 dCi, then, an unexpected panache and non-prohibitive consumption are perfectly combined.

The Nissan Navara is part of a lineage of over 15 million pickups of the Japanese house, sold in over 180 countries, to people who for more than half a century find in them the ideal companion for the most disparate uses. But forget the first pick-ups with an aesthetic typically commercial vehicle, awkward, terrible to drive on asphalt. The Navara, generation after generation, has instead become a much more refined and evolved medium, able to easily face the “dirty” work as well as a pleasure trip with the whole family, better if with the renewed turbodiesel 2.3 dCi from 190 Horsepower and automatic transmission.

Already conspicuous due to its extra-large dimensions, with the Trek-1 outfit and the pearly white paint, the Navara captures more glances than a supercar. The design of the Nissan pickup truck, already far from being decommissioned or neglected, it is further beguiled by details such as the 18 “wheels painted in black, the rear roll-bar and the box cover. In short, the stage presence on the road is one of those that leave young and old open-mouthed. The snout, in particular, is very powerful, with a mask, rear-view mirrors and chrome-plated door handles. To this is added also the very toned side, with the sculpted mudguards, as if to underline the strength and strength of the vehicle. Returning to the dimensions, the length is 533 cm, and the height of 184 cm, while as regards the caisson, the latter measures almost 1.80 meters in length and almost 1.60 meters in width. In short, there is nothing that you can not charge us, with the advantage that the cover allows greater security in leaving the car parked outside, without the worry that someone can take possession of what is stored in the box itself. In short, with a Navara fantasy immediately leads to imagine the caisson full of motocross, surfboards, and any tool that knows of adventure, leisure, free time. For those who work there, however, a box so large, with a load capacity (payload) up to a ton, becomes a fantastic tool for work, especially considering the 3,500kg of towable mass.

Nissan Navara 2.3 Interior – Equipped with all the comforts of a sedan

Given the height from the ground, on the Nissan Navara 2.3 Double Cab you do not climb up, but you climb up. If you are not very tall, it is essential to help yourself with the comfortable side platforms (for a woman, in a skirt, without these it would be absolutely impossible to climb). Once seated in the driver’s seat, it is so high that the sense of domination of the road is almost absolute. Likewise, the feeling of security and protection offered is enormous. In spite of the dimensions, once in motion, it turns out not without surprise that the perception of the dimensions is not too difficult. Forward, in fact, the bonnet is perfectly visible, while on the back a lot of large rear-view mirrors and maneuver, the rear camera and the system around view.

Although it is a work vehicle on paper, the Navara amazes with an interior that is worthy of a sedan, where none of the amenities is lacking. Starting, for example, from the excellent infotainment system, the same already known and appreciated on other Nissan models. The instrumentation is also complete, with the convenient TFT display at the center, full of information. All in all, even the materials and finishes are almost at the level of a “normal” car, and only the materials of the dashboard, not soft-touch, give the idea of being thought more than anything else to last over time and be resistant. The Navara, in this Treck-1 version, is offered in Double Cab version, thus being able to offer an additional dose of versatility. The rear sofa is in fact approved for 3 people, even if three burly adults are not really “comfortable” (especially in spite of the external dimensions). Last but not least, safety: 7 standard airbags and the same devices as the “safety shield” system already appreciated on other Nissan models.

Test Drive

Where the Nissan Navara Tekna surprises most – on the positive side – is on the road. The guide, with the necessary measures, is not so far from that of a traditional car, with a particularly high center of gravity. In this sense, much of the merit can be attributed to the presence, at the rear, of the multilink system that replaces the now obsolete crossbows.

The first thing to amaze, however, is the feeling of absolute domination of the road. Behind the wheel of the Navara it feels almost invincible, unstoppable. If in the city the size is felt (especially when finding a parking space), the behavior in the curve is all in all ascertainable. The steering certainly does not shine for speed and accuracy, being quite a lot of gear, but what matters most is that the driving stability is never questioned, both for the behavior substantially “healthy”, both for the electronics always alert, ready to counteract the understeering that occurs as soon as you exaggerate with the speed cornering. Positive comfort on the highway is surprising. At 130km/h the noise of the mechanics is all in all contained, except for the inevitable rolling noise of the tires, and some aerodynamic noise due to the important front section.

Compared to our previous test, with a car equipped with a manual transmission, the Trek-1 automatic, the object of this test, further increases its versatility. This is, of course, a tourist-style transmission, which prefers the fluidity of travel but does not react even with biblical delays when making the nick-down cd.

But the Navara Tekna is not designed, of course, to deal with only the asphalt: off-road is equipped to be virtually unstoppable. Minimum height above 22 cm, ford driving capacity of 60 cm, differential electronic locking and assistance systems for uphill starts and for keeping down speed. In short, even on the most extreme routes and with very little adherence, there is nothing to worry about.

Nissan Navara 2.3 Engine

The mechanics present on the Navara is exactly what you need for such a medium. The 2020 Nissan Navara 2.3 turbodiesel, in fact, is rich in torque (well 450 Nm), and already delivers it at very low revolutions. In fact, the driving torque, in fact, is essential to extricate itself in full load situations, or with a particularly heavy trailer. That the Navara is sparkling also confirm the numbers, from “traditional” car: the 190 hp of the car under test is sufficient to take it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.8 seconds, with a top speed of over 180 km / h. But do not overdo it, because the weight of about 2 tons makes life anything but easy for the four brake discs. To achieve decisive decelerations you must “crush” the pedal hard.

Nissan Navara 2.3 Fuel Economy & Price

Being a car designed primarily for those who have to work, the economy in management is obviously a voice that cannot be overshadowed. From this point of view, the Nissan Navara 2.3 turbodiesel is surprisingly positive. Considering the mass at stake, in addition to aerodynamics far from favorable, it was not at all obvious to be able to score the average distance of about 7.5-8 liters / 100 km.

As for the price list, however, it ranges from the poorest and most accessible versions to the top versions of the range such as the one under test, which become decidedly less economical. It starts, in fact, from just over $28,323 for a King Cab 2WD, which can become over $48,716 for a Double Cab Tekna 190 hp 4WD automatic (while the Trek-1 as the trial costs $44,864).
